Personal Recommendation: The Army Museum in Prague is truly remarkable, especially considering it’s free! Even if you’re not a history enthusiast like me, you’ll be amazed by the experience. The museum’s attention to detail is incredible, with each room representing a different period of war. While I’d recommend the second floor for young children, the first floor is better suited for older kids. (map)

Background

Located at the bottom of Vitkov Hill, the museum occupies historic buildings dating back to 1927 and 1929. You can’t miss the massive horse sculpture nearby, one of the world’s largest!

The museum earned the title of the best museum in the Czech Republic in 2022.

Opened to the public in 1932, it underwent a thorough restoration from 2018 to 2022, enhancing its exhibits. Divided into seven sections, the museum traces the military history of the Czech territory from its inception to the present day.

Don’t miss the cafe on the top floor, with an outdoor terrace offering stunning views of Prague’s Old Town and the Karlin neighborhood.
