Important Tips

Don’t buy a ticket in advance; wait to check the weather on the day of your visit since most of the zoo is outdoors.

Check the feeding times of various animals beforehand to plan your route. For example, after feeding, lions are moved to the open area, making them harder to spot.

Arrive early to fully explore the zoo. Children can usually enjoy at least half a day there.

Be prepared to walk a lot. Bring a stroller for small children or rent one at the entrance. Note that strollers can’t be taken on the cable car.

Buy tickets online to avoid long lines at the entrance, especially during the busy summer months.

Walk the zoo from top to bottom, starting with the elephants and giraffes, then gradually descending to see lions, birds, and cheetahs.

The cable car connects the lower and upper parts of the zoo. It’s not included in the entrance ticket and requires coins for payment.

Each chair holds one person, so the little ones will ride alone. Prepare them to jump off quickly at the top.

Set expectations with your child regarding purchases from the gift shops to avoid surprises.

Duration of Visit

The average visit lasts about two hours, but some children might enjoy spending half a day or more. Arrive early to make the most of your visit.

Who Is It For?

The Prague Zoo is perfect for everyone, especially families with children due to its child-friendly attractions. However, adults who love zoos will also find it exciting.

How to Get There?

The zoo is a 40-minute trip by public transport. Take the red metro line (Line C) to Nádraží Holešovice station, then bus 112/234 to the zoo station.

Is It Worth Going All the Way There?

Absolutely! The Prague Zoo and the admission fee are worth the trip. It’s a delightful experience for families with children, who might prefer it over revisiting the old town. If you’re traveling without kids, consider visiting the zoo on a longer trip or if you’re a zoo enthusiast.

What Season to Go There?

You can visit the zoo any time of the year. In winter, warm up in one of the 12 indoor pavilions. If there’s light rain, you can still enjoy the zoo with appropriate clothing. Avoid visiting during heavy rain.

Rules of Conduct

Smoking is prohibited throughout the zoo.
