Location

Situated near the Vltava River on the Mala Strana side, Kampa Island is accessible via the Charles Bridge or through side streets. It’s flanked by two iconic bridges, the Legion Bridge to the south and the Charles Bridge to the north.

Address: Ostrov Kampa, 118 00 Malá Strana

How to Get There?

While there are no public transport lines directly serving Kampa Island, trams 12, 15, 20, and 22 stop nearby on the Mala Strana side. Alternatively, you can reach it via the Malostranská metro station, a short walk from Charles Bridge.

What to Do There?

Discover Unique Views of Charles Bridge:

Escape the crowds and capture breathtaking views of the Charles Bridge from Kampa Island’s tranquil surroundings. Stroll along the riverbanks for a fresh perspective and perfect photo opportunities.

Chertovka Canal:

One of the most beautiful canals in Prague, the canal is decorated with statues, historic mills, and charming houses on the water’s edge. You can also take a cruise along the canal.

Admittedly, the canal is relatively long, and there is no need to walk along its entire length to reach two locations that remind one of Prague’s Little Venice. One is at the water mill, and the other is at the exit from the Charles Bridge.

Illuminated at night, they stand as a reminder of the impact of plastic waste on wildlife.

David Černý’s Baby Sculptures:

Another intriguing sight on Kampa Island is the collection of baby sculptures by renowned artist David Černý. Known for his unconventional art, Černý’s metal babies, adorned with vertical barcodes for faces, evoke both fascination and unease. Found near the Yellow Penguins, these sculptures offer a unique photo opportunity and spark discussions about the intersection of technology and humanity.
